Save the date: the 8th edition of the MARID conference will be held on 12 – 15 April 2026 in Enschede, the Netherlands.
There will be some short courses on Sunday 12 April, followed by an icebreaker activity. The presentation sessions will take place on 13 and 14 April, and the conference will end with an interesting field trip on
We would like to draw the attention of river, marine, aeolian, glacial, volcanic and extra-terrestrial geomorphologists and sedimentologists, to the EGU session on “Bedform morphodynamics in terrestrial and planetary environments”. We invite contributions regarding all aspects of bedform dynamics and sedimentary structures in both terrestrial and extra-terrestrial environments. The deadline for abstract submission is 10 January 2024, 13:00 CET but those seeking travel support should submit their abstract by 1 December 2023 (13:00 CET).
The EGU General Assembly will take place from 14 to 19 April 2024 2024 as a hybrid conference where everybody is welcome, in person or online. Our session is taking advantage of the PICO format, offering the opportunity for all scientists to present, discuss and exchange their research with a 2-minute oral followed by presentation time at a touch screen.
We are looking forward to receiving your abstracts and welcoming you to our PICO bedform session!
Kind regards,
Alice Lefebvre, Sjoukje de Lange, Francesco Salese, Thaiënne van Dijk and Leon Scheiber
Please consider submitting an abstract to the session on Bedform morphodynamics in terrestrial and planetary environments (SSP 3.1) at the EGU General Assembly 2023. EGU (23-28 April 2023) will be a hybrid event facilitating online and in-person participation in Vienna.

MARID VII will be held in Rennes, France, on April 3-5, 2023 and is organised by the Institute of Physics of Rennes and Geosciences Rennes Laboratory (University of Rennes 1) and the French Naval Hydrographic and Oceanographic Office (SHOM). Scientific sessions will take place in the Beaulieu Scientific Campus on 3 and 4 April 2023 including talks from keynote speakers and oral and poster presentations by delegates. On 5 April a field trip is planned to the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay to allow a convivial exchange between participants. The aim of this meeting is to encourage effective communication between physicists, geologists, biologists and modellers to improve our understanding of bedform dynamics with particular attention to societal relevance. Three speakers are already scheduled to give keynote lectures: Nathalie Vriend (Cambridge, UK), Bruno Andreotti (Paris, France), Jim Best (University of Illinois, US). The conference is open to all professionals and stakeholders dealing with bedform dynamics.
